ThanksGiving And What Your Thankful For.....

And it is that time of the year again to where you give Thanks and the things that you are Thankful for.

Around this time of the year, I could remember when my grandmother would be up in the wee hours of the night fixing up a good meal for everyone, and family coming over to visit. There would be music playing and the scent of the Holiday in the air. Those were the good ole' days back then. I think that the most part of the Holiday that I enjoyed was to see family that I might not have seen in a long time or family that I may have never meet. It was exciting for me. Especially when my uncle would come to visit from Georgia. He was my cousin and I favorite uncle. Maybe it was because we rarely got to see him. But we loved when he came to visit. We would ever so often imitate everything he does....LOL! It use to make him laugh. My mom and aunts would ever so often help my grandmother prepare dinner like, picking the greens or making the cornbread and etc..and my grandfather would always get the first slice of Home made pound cake fresh out the oven with his black coffee sitting at the table....LOL! I would always sit around and watch......only if I wasn't being bad....LOL!

When it was time to eat, everyone would sit around the table and hold hands and say what they are Thankful for OR one family member would say a prayer and tell what he or she is Thankful for. Those were the days.

Now, it seems as if Holidays aren't as important to family anymore. Like now, I have my own family. My children. I have three of them and it is only us for the Holiday and I would cook up a big meal like my grandmother use to do (may she rest in peace) My food might not be as good as my grandmothers because she threw down. But it's good enough...LOL! My mother may come over and sit for a while and I would have to damn near beg my cousin to come over some times. But it gets to a point to where you be like, forget it. It'll just be me and my little family that I've created. And I'm Thankful for them. They are the reason why I get in the kitchen to cook such a big meal for the Holiday anyway. Times have changed. We didn't see family as much but for the Holiday, you were sure to see them. Sometimes, your Thankfuls don't seem to be enough.

Well, to not make this story so personal, I decided to type the things that I 'am Thankful for, for this Holiday Season.
I'm Thankful for being able to wake up to see another day.
I'm Thankful that god have put 3 beautiful people in life(My Children) whom will love me unconditionally no matter what I do.
I'm Thankful to be able to wake in the morning to hear my children's voice and to look into their eyes and to see them smile.
I'm Thankful for being able to live to see another year and another Holiday.
I'm Thankful for my mother. Because if there was no her, there would be no me. So I'm Thankful for her giving me life.
I'm Thankful for all the things that I have been through in life that I was able to snap back and live and to not be strung out on any type of drugs.
I'm just Thankful for being able to be myself and have three Beautiful children in my life that I love dearly.
I'm also thankful for my family. Even though were all not as tight as a family should be, but I'm thankful for them anyway :)

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!!
