OBama Family

The Obama family recently sat down with People magazine to talk about their family life. In a snippet of the interview below, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and wife Michelle tell People how they raise their girls in the public’s eye.

PEOPLE: Someone told me today that you don’t do birthday presents.

Michelle: No, because we spend hundreds of dollars on a birthday party and movie tickets and pizza and popcorn …

Barack: That sleepover is enough. We want to teach some limits to them. And their friends bring over presents.

Michelle: They get so much stuff that it just becomes numbing. Malia believes there is still a Santa Claus even though she’s a little wary because some of her friends are non-believers. But Malia says, “Ma, I know there is a Santa because there’s no way you’d buy me all that stuff.” [Laughing]

PEOPLE: So what does a slumber party at the Obama house look like?

Barack: They’re pretty noisy.

Michelle: The older they get, they just talk a lot. But they’re at the age where they’re pretty self-sufficient. [For Malia's birthday] we’re going to go swimming, see Wall-E, make pizzas, have sundaes.

Barack: I usually go for the swim but this time I want to go to the movie just because Wall-E has gotten great reviews. I find actually that children’s movies are the best movies these days. But I’ll probably, after that, peel off until the cake.

Michelle: [Laughs] “Peel off.”

PEOPLE: What does discipline look like in your house?

Barack: Mommy raising her voice.

Michelle: It’s usually a lecture. It’s a lot of conversation. Or it’s separating them. Or it’s saying if you guys can’t decide nicely what program to watch, then you don’t get to watch anything. It’s sort of pulling away a privilege. But in all honesty, we don’t have to discipline –

Barack: If you ask them to do something, they’re like any other kid …

Michelle: They’ll whine a little bit.

Barack: They’ll test boundaries. But if you say, “Guys, this is what we need to do …”

Michelle: An example of this is one night I was going out, I had to do a fund-raiser, and I told Malia, “You guys really need to have an early bedtime because you’ve got to get up tomorrow and have a busy day.” So my mom was there, and my mom doesn’t adhere to bedtime. She’s kinda, “Well, maybe you wanna start taking your bath…” But that night, she said she sat down to watch TV with them and they both got up, turned off the TV and left. And my mom was like, “Where are you going?” And they said, “We have got to go to bed early today, Grandma.” And they went downstairs, took their baths and went to bed, and my mom was just stunned.

50 Cent Say's His Babymama Is Holding His Son Hostage

Rapper 50 Cent says that his ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins is holding his 11-year-old son hostage. The rapper was recently given visitation rights to see his son but says that since the court battle over their long island residence,Shaniqua has fled with their son. In a new interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine,50 a.k.a Curtis Jackson gives us insight as to how the battle between him and his ex began:

The rap star insists the war of words began when he insisted on finding his son a better home and improving his education. He tells the publication, “It wasn’t important before the beginning of last year because he (Marquise) was being home schooled… I was paying a teacher $60,000 just to teach him by himself.“He was learning slower because it was just him and the teacher. So he needed to go to where he had the best possible schooling district and I found a house in the area that was, like, $1.5 million.”
But 50 claims Tompkins started receiving bad advice from friends, insisting on more child support to match her new situation. The battle led to the rapper winning a court order to evict Tompkins from the home he’d bought for her: “Her lawyer decided to present to the public that 50 Cent is kicking his son out of the house.”Since the fire, Tompkins has fled with the rapper’s son, as she battles custody and child support.
He adds, “Now they done kidnapped my first one (son). My son’s mother got him, holding him hostage.”

Michelle On How Her Children May Turn Out

“There are the small worries, micro-worries, about whether we’re doing all we can to let them be fully themselves, trying to make sure they have the space to be who they are and that they feel loved and supported. Then, there’s the macro worry about, ‘Okay, if we do our jobs and they turn out well as individuals, what kind of world are they going to be in?’ ~Michelle Obama’s thoughts on her kids (Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7).

Monica Talks About Her Boys And Engagement

Singer Monica recently sat down for an interview with StraightFromTheA.com to talk about her kids and her engagement to the father of her two children. In the interview,Monica mentions that her fiance Rocko Da Don a.k.a Rodney Ramone Hill proposed to her on Christmas Eve:

“It was Christmas Eve at midnight, we were home alone in the bedroom and he said ‘close your eyes and listen.’ He put the ring on first. I knew what was coming next so I did what I was asked. He proceeded to talk about our history together, the kids. He and he very directly just popped the question. I automatically said ‘yes!’

Monica says that her older son Lil Rocko,3(not pictured), is not at all jealous of his baby brother Romelo Montez. “I included [Lil Rocko] in EVERYTHING during the pregnancy…except naming the baby of course.I let Rodney choose the first name and his middle name is my brother’s.” The singer also adds that she takes her kids everywhere and that she would never move her children away from her family in Atlanta:

“I would never separate my children from my family. Also, my entire crew is from Atlanta and I couldn’t imagine separating them from their families.Rodney and I have looked into vacation homes but my main home will always be Atlanta. If you are from the A, [then] you know that Atlanta artists are extremely supportive of one another.”

Chris Rock Fathered My Child And I'm Writing About It!

A lady named Kali Bowyer says that actor Chris Rock is her baby daddy, even though a judge ruled otherwise in 2007. Kali has written a new book titled “Hollywood Child” in which she alleges that Chris Rock fathered her 13-year-old son. In addition,Kali says that getting pregnant with Chris’ baby helped her to leave her drug-filled world behind:
The courts have ruled in Chris Rock’s favor, but one Georgia woman refuses to let go of her claim that the comedian fathered her child, and is even moving forward with plans to write a book detailing her alleged relationship with Rock.
In the press release Kali Bowyer circulated for her upcoming book “Hollywood Child,” Bowyer claims her past included “a hot affair with racy comedian Chris Rock.” Her life, according to the release, “started crashing down all around her,” until “getting pregnant with Chris’ son saved her life.”
Rock’s attorney John Mayone had not received the press release, but says, “I assume this is a publicity ploy for her alleged book.” On the subject of paternity, Mayone reiterated the decision of the Georgia court that concluded that Rock was not the father of Bowyer’s son. “There is a final judgement. This is not Chris Rock’s child. It’s been fully litigated, and that includes DNA testing.”
So why is Bowyer moving ahead with her book? She says she wants to continue fighting the paternity question in California. Mayone dismisses that possibility. “The time for appeal has long since passed,” he says. As for the book (no publisher is listed in the release, and Bowyer did not respond when asked about it), Mayone says, “I’ve not seen this (press release for ‘Hollywood Child’), but I’m sure that Mr. Rock will respond accordingly.”

Rude Customers

Now I use to be an customer before..and still is but now I wonder; 'Was I that bad?!' I mean...people can be really rude! I know first hand. Trust me. And it aint easy sometimes. I mean, we as employees makes mistakes but so does the customers. My first tip would be to all the customers out there that love to shop and especially like bargains...PLEASE.....please make sure that what your looking at IS 50% off or on sale because once going to check-out, 9x's out of 10, the cashiers DOES NOT know whats going on the floor where things are being stocked. It will save a lot of energy in getting mad at the cashier for sales that he or she is not aware of.
I've had quite a few customers that would come in the store like right after the sale is over and will be ready to chop your head off if the sale is not valid anymore. I mean, before leaving the house, did you not look at that same sales paper and notice that the date was indeed 2 to 3 days ago?! probably not because I wouldn't...LOL! but seriously though, after being in the shoes of a cashier and knowing what they go through..I felt a little bad for my behavior. Just for a minute. I'm working this job because I need it. But putting up with them customers is work indeed. Not only do you have to go back and forth with them to explain that if it does not come up in the system as 50% off that it's not 50% off...you have to go through actually locking and leaving your register to go to the floor to PROVE to them that the item they wish to purchase is not on sale anymore. Then they want to talk about false advertising. It's not false advertisement if you know what your buying!

Lost Children In Stores

Now, to all you parents out there. Lets agree on some things here; If you go to the Grocery store, Department store, Outlet store.....or ANY KIND of store for that matter. Make sure that you know that your children are close to you!
Don't go into an store and just let your child run freely without your supervision. Anything could happen to them. Someone could openly walk out of the store with your child you not knowing nothing! I work in a department store and a lady and....no two ladies and two little girls(whom looked to be atleast 10 and 11 years old) Came to my register asking if I seen 2 little children......boys, running around the store. The adult didn't ask me if I seen any little boys...one of the little girls asked me....smh and I'm wondering if the lady who was present was the mother of one of the children or either she only knew how to talk or understand so much english and what she understood could not have been much.
So I asked what was the children's name. She gave me the names and I went over to my Supervisor and notified her that 2 little boys were lost in the store. While standing at the counter and listening to my Supervisor call the attention of the shoppers in the store and warn the children to come to the service desk, I glance over at the woman(whom I assume were the parent) and she's over there laughing!!.... *sigh* Now was I missing something? How can you laugh about your child missing???
So I tell my Supervisor, how can she be laughing and her child is lost??....smh ignorant. Keep a hold on your children when out shopping. Or if you know that you will be in the store for quite some time, leave your children at home so that'll way, you wouldn't have to worry about your child wandering off or playing in the store like they are at the park or something and you'll know they are safe at home. Hell, if they are too young to be kept at home, have someone in the family or a close friend to watch them. Don't bring them to the store and let them get lost!
But eventually, they found the children.

Breaking Up Isn't Easy! Pt3

Here's another quote for you guys:

"Here I am w/ a black eye after yet another violent fight w/ the bf. I want to get out so bad, but its hard and the police can't protect me. It only makes him madder when they get involved and he always seems to get out of it someway. I just feel alone, I don't really want anyone in my family to know b/c they just end up making me feel worse. I just don't understand why he does this, I had a job interview tomorrow. Everything in my life is just so fucked up right now. I know I should leave and I'm really disappointed w/ myself b/c I'm so much better and stronger than this. Please no mean comments, I just wanted to vent and maybe hear how others have gotten out of similar situations"

First of all...This guy does this because he is insecure with himself and most of all an COWARD!! This is just Stephanie all over. She was the same way(read post below) She went through the same thing with her ex and suffered from an black eye as well. Situations like this, no matter what you may fear would happen, YOU HAVE TO END IT! Dont let a person put such a hold on you that you are to afraid to do whats right.

If you have to get the police invovled in situations like this..press charges on his ass! that will give you enough time to move on with your life and relocate if fear lives in your heart that badly. No woman deserves to be put in this situation. The quote above says that he would get angry if she was to call. Then keep your hands to your damn self! then the police wont have to be invovled. Then the messed up thing of it is, she had an job interview. Another woman trying to do right and get her life together but then have some ungrateful knuckle head on her hands who obviously does not want to see her succeed. Because 9/10, he aint got nothing going on with his life so he want to drag her along with him. Dont let that happen. The first sign that you get that your mate is aggressive.....no matter how you may feel about the person, break it off! because you could end up like some of these girls on the news. Hold on to your dignity and dont ever let a man tell you that no one will want you but him because that is a lie!

And this girl knows that she's so much better than what she's getting from this guy and she knows that she a strong woman. Her only problem is fear. Dont let it control you. You control it.

Breaking Up Isn't Easy! Pt2

I have a quote from someone:

[quote]One Of My Girlfriends Is Stalking Her Ex And His New Woman. I Have Tried To Talk To Her..be She Is Out Of Her Mind! I Am Worried About Her.....what Would You Do?[/quote]

Now situations like this people...Dont do. When moving along, the main thing here is to cut off communication. Dont go stalking the person that broke it off with you because that will make you look really desperate and like your just settling. Don't let your ex see you sweat. If he or she feel the need to call you...Don't answer the phone. let it go straight to voice mail. Remember that he or she broke it off with you! or if it was times that you tried to make it work and the other party looked at as if yea whatever, I'm gon do me. Remember that he or she is doing you a favor and that you are top notch priority.

The said quote above. This female is going about it the wrong way. By stalking someone is not going to make that person want you even more. If anything, your further letting that person know that you are nuts! And thie new female is getting a really big laugh out of the situation because she has someone that you obviously want and not over. The key word is moving along. Dont go along and get yourself in trouble that you may possibly end up doing time for. That is not where it's at ladies and gents....that is not where it's at.

Breaking Up Isn't Easy!

People who has been through this situation knows that it isn't easy to move a long from the one you loved and hoped to share your life with. But life have to go on, and you have to make sure that YOU are taking care of. The most IMPORTANT thing and someone when going through a break up is YOU!

Some people, may feel as if the world has ended and that there is no going on with your life if you dont have that special someone by your side. Dont EVER in a million years, think that your life revovles around someone because without him or her in your life...you WILL be alright. Who knows, maybe the person who did the breaking up, did you a favor. You have to think of things like that. Don't waist a lof of energy on the what if's and what should have happened and etc...Get yourself a hobby and move on. Start to date other people. You dont have to be serious or committing yourself to soon to someone...but to get over that hump. As crazy as it may sound, but sometimes having someone around..just to show you a good time, will help you get over the ex.

When trying to date. Some people may feel as if no one else would want them but the ex that you were once with. But let me tell you something. That is not true. Sometimes, you HAVE to go out and meet people because sitting around mopping is not going to bring that one man that you deserves to you.

I have a story to share with you guys. A friend of mine(who's name I will not mention. we will just call her Stephanie) Stephanie was dating a guy for 4 years of her life. And trust me when I say that it was the most miserable and depressing four years of her life. I'm talking going through being abused. Not just mentally but mostly physically. But no matter what the situation was...Stephanie decided to stick with her man through thick and thin. Did he appreciate the things that she did for him? that I dont know. But from what I saw, I would say hell no. See, Steph had this thing that she was so in love that no matter, it was worth her sticking around. I wish that she would have just left before things got really hectic for her. Now this guy that she was dealing with, eventually spent time in the pin. He did 5 years incarceration and Stephanie still rode it out with him. Even though Steph could not support him financially while in the pin...when he first went in, she did what she was able to do financial wise. But was what she did appreciated? HELL NAW!!

So to try and nip this tory in the bud real quick. This guy was finally released from jail and Steph and the guy she loved decided to try and work they relationship out because, while he was incarcerated, they had problems then....arguing and saying things to one another that could really hurt them mentally. But the change from Steph was something that this guy was not ready for. Because while they were together, she was weak minded to him and in a way gullable because of the things he would do like: messing around...being unfaithful to Steph with females right in the next building or up the block and staying the nights out or what have you...no matter what, Steph let him back in...

Now ladies(and men if your going through the same with a female) dont let a man or woman EVER think that they got it that good while in a relationship. If something aint right, nip it in the bud before situations get worse. Thats something that Steph didn't do.

Now back to Steph....she let him back into her home no matter what he seemed to have done. He didn't work, he stole out the house, he was abusive and on top of that, they have children. And all of this going on....smh so anyway, he gets released and they decided to work something out. Now Steph had a lot of resentment toward him. But some where down the line, she hoped and believed that some of the things he would tell her became true one day. He'd say little things like he wanted to make her happy and be a family man and all the other good shit that comes aloong with it. Did she get it? Hell naw! She got nothing but yet Steph was at his every hand that held out for help. She put his first peice of clothing on his back, food in his refrigerator(because he stay in a half way house transitional thing) took him places that he needed to go with no money for gas and on top of that, was throwing him money like it wasent a problem. But you know what Steph did?! she eventually broke it off with him. I was a little confused because even though they decided to part ways, they were still messing around. I was baffled and wondered why..??.. neither of them wanted to end it but then on top of all, he got a white girl pregnant. that is what made Steph move on and step over them stones and get on with her life because I know and she knows that she DO deserves a lot better. Always a no good.......9/10 will always be a no good. This girl is now moving on with her life. Found her a job and planning to go back to school. And to be honest, the way that she was with him, I had to ask, whats the key to your moving on? and she said motivation and love for her children and most of all being strong and have dignity :) thats my girl.

So when moving along(with half the story I gave you guys because it waaay more than that to it) you have to stay self motivated. If you have children, be motivated fro them. Not saying that a guy going off and getting another girl pregnant is the key to just move on OR a girl going out and getting pregnant by another guy is the key to move on. Move on when you know and see that things arent right. Get out before you get dragged in the gutter and so will your self-esteem. It takes time to move on from the ex. but it will happen.

So before I cut it short. Keep your head high and know that you are beautiful and you ARE more precious than gold and cant no one tell you different. Just because it took a man to help bring you into this world, DOES NOT mean that you need a man when leaving this world.
